Today we bring you useful information to prepare your holiday to Mallorca. Practical advice on documentations, safety, health, clothes to bring, opening times in Spain, currency, tourism cards, festivities… everything to prepare your holiday!

1. Climate and clothes: What type of clothes should I bring to Mallorca? In Mallorca, the weather changes very much from one season to another. If you are travelling to the island in the winter, you will need a coat (mostly in mountain villages such as Valldemossa or Deià…). Nonetheless, if you travel to the island to in the summer, bring cool clothes, preferably linen and cotton.

Take into account what places you are going to visit as they might request certain etiquette.

2. Price / stay: The average price of products and services vary a lot from place to place and from season to season. As a reference, here is a list of the approximate prices of services and products.

• Bus ticket in Pama: €1,50

 • Cinema ticket: €5 to €9 / person.

• Theater ticket: €12 to €30 / person.

• Breakfast: coffee/juice + pastry from €4 to €6 / person.

• Set menu in a restaurant: €7 to €14 / person.

• Hotel ***** €200 to €300 / per room per night

• Hotel **** €100 and €200 / per room per night

• Hotel *** €60 and €100 / per room per night

• Hotel ** less than €60 / per room per night

 3. Times in Mallorca: In Mallorca office hours are normally Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm with one hour break for lunch. Some have a two hour break and leave at 7pm.

Shops are open from 9.30am or 10am to 1pm or 1.30pm and close at lunch time, opening again in the afternoon from 4.30pm or 5pm to 8pm. They also open on Saturday morning. Chain stores and shopping malls often do not close at lunch time and close at 9 or 10 pm, opening all day on Saturdays. In the centre of Palma you will find that there are a couple of chain stores that also open most Sundays.

If you need a chemist, there are some that open 24 hours, mostly in tourist areas in summer. If you cannot find one of those, visit any chemist and check the list of duty chemists opened nearby. Surely you are wondering what time do they serve meals in Spain? Breakfast is served normally between 7am or 8am to 10am, at weekends perhaps even later. Lunch in restaurants is served normally from 1pm to 3.30pm and dinner from 8pm to 12am. Many places served food also continuously from lunch time to dinner time and also being in Spain, you can always find somewhere to have a tapa!

What is the time in Mallorca? Mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands are one hour ahead of GMT in winter and two hours ahead in summer. In relation to the UK, we are always one hour ahead of the British Isles.

We hope these 3 tips are useful to travel to Mallorca and enjoy it to the full. We will publish more tips in further posts!
